Fact Friday

  • Your brain is 80% water.  (I swear mine must be 80% ice-cream)
  • Mosquitoes prefer children to adults & blondes to brunettes. (I'm changing my hair color)
  • In older people, memory is best early in the morning and then declines during the late afternoon. (beware of your kids hitting you up for money in the morning and then again later in the day)
  • The average human body contains enough fat to make seven bars of soap.  (I have a neighbor friend who is going to start making soap for her on-line business.  Next thing ya know, we'll be reading about a mass amount of disappearances in our neighborhood)

Lessons in Life

I received an email today from an old friend.  It was called "45 lessons life taught me" written once by a woman who is now 90+ years old.  I'll share with you a few of my favorites....

1.  Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
2.  Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
3.  Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
4.  However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
5.  The best is yet to come.
6.  Your children get only one childhood. (I love this one)

Creepy crawlers.....
I am the last person that would want anything to do with bugs of any kind crawling anywhere near me, but I must admit; this scene straight out of Charlottes Web truly fascinated the dickens out of my family and me today.  This is a photo of a cluster of baby spiders that had hatched earlier today on the outside of our glass slider door.  They have already begun spinning webs in order to make their first journey into the wild...if you can call Barrington, RI "WILD".  As long as they move far, far away, then I can live with it.  I just don't want them hanging around until they start growing long furry legs. Can you imagine ALL these spiders full grown staring at you through the glass door??!!

Fact Friday...
  • After eating too much, your hearing is less sharp.  (WHAT??)
  • Most dust particles in your house are made from dead skin.  (We must shed a lot in my family)
  • Grapefruit scent will make middle aged women appear 6 times younger to men.  The perception is not reciprocal and the grapefruit scent on men has no effect on women's perception.  (Men should try the scent of a chocolate moose cake)

This is our outdoor pet, Stephanie (named by
my daughter).  She knocks on the sliders and
stands up peering inside until we give her a
treat.  My cats probably have concussions by
now from running at the glass door!

Great find in Warren, RI....

With hand painted furniture bursting with color, unique jewerly, wall art, and tons of handcrafted gifts by many local artists; you don't want to pass up visiting "Whimsies" on Church Street.  I never miss a chance to stop by Whimsies when in Warren to check out the many ever-changing funky goods throughout the store.  Yesterday, I just happened to have my camera in hand when I stopped by and decided to ask Andrea, the owner if I could snap a few shots in her store for my blog.  I always end up staying a lot longer while at Whimsies because Andrea makes you feel like you're chatting with an old friend.  Great place -  Great owner!  I'd be surprised if you walk out empty handed!
Check it out at

To grandmother's house we go....

We're off to visit family & friends in CT.  "We" includes my children but not my poor hard-working husband.  He's working hard on getting our sailboat ready for launching next week.  Today, he'll be painting the bottom and many other back-breaking required chores.  At least he's on the water and the day is beautiful...

Fact Friday
  • U.S. President Calvin Coolidge liked to eat breakfast while having his head rubbed with vaseline.  (I would NOT have a good hair day if I had this fetish)
  • There are more bacteria in your mouth than there are people in the world.  (Ewww...who wants to kiss me now??)
